{"id":45278,"date":"2022-10-12T10:00:30","date_gmt":"2022-10-12T09:00:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/verwoodtoday.co.uk\/?p=45278"},"modified":"2022-10-12T11:49:59","modified_gmt":"2022-10-12T10:49:59","slug":"new-a31-highways-sign-for-verwood-spotted-with-spelling-mistake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/martin.mx\/verwood\/2022\/10\/new-a31-highways-sign-for-verwood-spotted-with-spelling-mistake\/","title":{"rendered":"New A31 Highways sign for Verwood spotted with spelling mistake"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new sign on the A31 westbound signaling the turnoff for Verwood and Matchams contains a spelling mistake for the neighbouring town of Wimborne Minster.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Instead of showing <em>Wimborne<\/em> straight ahead on the A31, the sign says <em>Wimbourne<\/em>, with an extra u added.<\/p>\n<p>The westbound side of the road is <a href=\"https:\/\/martin.mx\/verwood\/2022\/10\/traffic-to-return-to-a31-westbound-carriageway-later-this-month\/\">due to reopen<\/a> in the next two weeks as the year-long work nears completion.<\/p>\n<p>The sign previously positioned here only had information on the upcoming exit, but has been upgraded as part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/nationalhighways.co.uk\/our-roads\/south-east\/a31-ringwood-road-widening\/\">A31 widening work and bridge replacement scheme<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/martin.mx\/verwood\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Screenshot-2022-10-12-at-09.53.41.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/martin.mx\/verwood\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Screenshot-2022-10-12-at-09.53.41.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1075\" height=\"724\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-45281\" srcset=\"https:\/\/martin.mx\/verwood\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Screenshot-2022-10-12-at-09.53.41.png 1075w, https:\/\/martin.mx\/verwood\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Screenshot-2022-10-12-at-09.53.41-300x202.png 300w, https:\/\/martin.mx\/verwood\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Screenshot-2022-10-12-at-09.53.41-1024x690.png 1024w, https:\/\/martin.mx\/verwood\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Screenshot-2022-10-12-at-09.53.41-768x517.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1075px) 100vw, 1075px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A National Highways spokesperson told VerwoodToday: &#8220;Whilst the new Advanced Directional Sign was being installed adjacent to the A31, the error was identified as part of the final inspection. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have contacted the company that have manufactured the sign to organise replacement sections and this will be installed as soon as possible.
