Three performances of The Lion King at Emmanuel Middle School in Verwood have been enjoyed by parents and locals.<\/p>\n
The musical tells the story of a young lion called Simba who is a crown prince in Africa and has to overcome his fear to take the throne after the death of his father.<\/p>\n
It was written by Elton John with lyrics by Sir Tim Rice and the young cast brought the story to life and received standing ovations.<\/p>\n
Other students were active backstage and at front of house, and the whole school along with parents and friends contributed.<\/p>\n
The director Ben Shooter said: \u201cWe came together as a school community to deliver what I think centralises the overarching mantras at Emmanuel – encompassing our three E\u2019s – endurance, endeavour and enjoyment to the full.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe process was vigorous, with rehearsals weekly, and in some cases it required giving up lunches.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe tenacity that the children demonstrated was nothing short of inspirational.<\/p>\n
\u201cFrom the learning of lines to the choreography, the stage directions and technical prowess they demonstrated great talent.<\/p>\n
\u201cHopefully it will have inspired them for a lifetime.\u201d<\/p>\n
Headteacher Rob Christopher said: \u201cAn excellent education transcends the classroom experience. Emmanuel School pupils have many opportunities to enrich their learning and experiences.<\/p>\n
\u201cWell done to those involved on stage, backstage, make-up, lighting, costume, admin – you will have learnt so much throughout.\u201d<\/p>\n
Liz West, chief executive of Initio Learning Trust \u2013 formerly Wimborne Academy Trust \u2013 of which Emmanuel Middle School is a part, said: \u201cIt sounded like a wonderful show the school put on.<\/p>\n
