{"id":48441,"date":"2023-10-05T04:00:59","date_gmt":"2023-10-05T03:00:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/verwoodtoday.co.uk\/?p=48441"},"modified":"2023-10-05T04:00:59","modified_gmt":"2023-10-05T03:00:59","slug":"cyclist-dies-after-collision-with-a-car-in-wimborne","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/martin.mx\/verwood\/2023\/10\/cyclist-dies-after-collision-with-a-car-in-wimborne\/","title":{"rendered":"Cyclist dies after collision with a car in Wimborne"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A man in his 40s who was riding a bicycle has died after a collision with a car in Wimborne.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>A local woman aged in her 20s was arrested on suspicion of driving offences.<\/p>\n<p>The incident happened on the B3078 Julians Road involving a red Vauxhall Corsa just after 10pm on Wednesday 4 October 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Road closures are in place along Julians Road between the Pye Corner roundabout and the junction of the A31. These closures are expected to remain in place for some time.<\/p>\n<p>Police Sergeant Gareth Thomas, of the traffic unit, said: \u201cAn investigation into this collision is underway and I am appealing to anyone who saw what happened or witnessed the Corsa being driven immediately after the collision to please get in touch.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am particularly keen to hear from any motorists who were travelling along that stretch of the road at the time and may have captured anything of relevance on their dashcam.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe road is expected to remain closed for some time while we carry out our detailed examination of the area.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur thoughts today are with the man\u2019s family and friends at this very difficult time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk, via email at scit@dorset.pnn.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55230157876.
